Vinci is a specialist civil engineering, construction and facilities management company. IFS were requested by Vinci to take over the project as a ‘Step-in Contractor’, for Cardiff City Councils upgrading of social housing stock.

In addition to undertaking new build works IFS were required to remedy the previous contractor’s defects.
The works included; excavation of gardens and footpaths, new foundations, construction of brick boundary walls and bin stores, concrete washing line slabs, together with laying new flagged pathways and extensive areas of 1.8m high hit and miss fencing.
Materials storage on site was severely restricted and together with security issues ‘Just in Time’ supplierdeliveries were critical to the progress of the project.
Health & Safety was a prime concern and focal point as the residents were in occupation during theworks, so heightening the need for extra vigilance. RAM’s were detailed and both closely monitored andmanaged. The project was completed without any accidents or near misses.
However, part of the ‘added value’ that IFS brings to its clients is the flexible approach to accommodating stake holder requirements and providing a robust ‘Change Management’ process.
IFS undertook a total of 1,260 man hours with zero incidents, accidents or near misses.
Communications were key to the success to the project and IFS staff achieved maximum visibility to the management team.
