The purpose of the golden thread of information is to ensure that everyone involved in building safety management, whether directly or indirectly, has access to key details that could help identify, assess, and mitigate risks, particularly the risk of fire. The intended outcome of putting the golden thread into legislation was to significantly reduce the severity of the consequences of fire and structural collapse on the lives and well-being of residents.

The Golden Thread of Information maintains a clear, unbroken chain of information about a building’s design, construction, and operation throughout its life cycle. And since April ‘22 you have a legal responsibility to prove it!

Documentation must be electronically available, prove that your building has been built according to that documentation and prove that your building is safe from fire.
