In the UK he has directed high value capital building projects across the country including the City of London. His background in construction and subsequently Facilities Management enables him to fully understand the needs of the built environment.
Rob and Adam decided to focus the business on Cladding Remediation in the hope of making Britain’s buildings safe and sustainable and Rob is responsible for project and programme management together with client relations and strategic planning of all works.
Rob will be opening our event and providing a little context as we look closer into the solutions required to meet the cladding crisis head on.

Director, Architect and Practice
Meet Mike Smith, one of our visionary Directors at Bailey Partnership. He has a wealth of experience in the architectural and construction consultancy field and brings a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and leadership to our team.
Known for his unwavering passion for design excellence and fire safety, Mike is a true advocate for creating buildings that prioritise the safety and well-being of occupants. His deep understanding of fire safety regulations and best practices ensures that our projects go beyond aesthetic appeal and incorporate robust fire safety measures. As an expert in fire safety, Mike has successfully led numerous projects that have implemented innovative fire prevention and mitigation strategies
Beyond compliance, Mike’s focus on fire safety goes beyond legal requirements. He recognises the importance of proactive risk assessment and works closely with our in-house multidisciplinary teams and clients to develop tailored fire safety strategies that address their specific needs. His commitment to creating safe environments is evident in every aspect of his work.
As a seasoned professional, Mike understands the intricacies of the construction industry and embraces the challenges it presents. His strategic thinking and ability to navigate complex projects make him a trusted advisor to our clients.
Beyond his technical prowess, Mike is a natural communicator, with the ability to articulate ideas and engage with diverse audiences. He collaborates closely with clients, fire safety authorities, and project teams (internal and external) to ensure effective communication and seamless coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Outside of work, you’ll often find him keeping up with his professional development, studying the latest advancements in fire safety technologies, attending industry conferences, and actively participating in fire safety forums.
As a Director, Mike embodies the values of Bailey Partnership and is dedicated to shaping a sustainable future through exceptional design, construction, and fire safety practices. His leadership inspires his design team to push boundaries and deliver outstanding results while ensuring the highest levels of safety.
As a Business Development professional with 20+ years’ experience in different industries Rob loves nothing more than asking questions and learning more about WHY certain decisions are made. This curiosity, along with a passion for mental health awareness, has allowed him to really look into the access provision sector and understand which method is more suitable when.
Working for BFT Mastclimbing, the leading supplier of Mast Climbing Work Platforms in the UK, has given him unique insights into a variety of different organisations and their decision-making processes and also provided opportunities to speak directly with residents to learn more from their perspective about how decisions impact them.
As he looks to bring more awareness within the industry to different solutions he operates by the mantra “It is ok not to know all the answers, it is better to admit our ignorance than to believe in answers that might be wrong”.
With this in mind we are looking forward to the Q&A session following his presentation at the Building Safety Forum.
